FAQ - EVERYTHING YOU NEED KNOW
Perhaps that is a bit of an exaggeration but we like our clients to be fully informed, however some stuff that is obvious to us, might not be to you.
We have tried to think of all the things not shown elsewhere on this site, and questions that we do frequently get asked.
If want you need an answer to question that is not here, please ask. We will respond quickly, and add it here!
FAQ - PRE SALES AND BOOKING
No we don’t.
InJanuary 2018 it became illegal in the UK to charge for credit cards, unless it was shown as a service charge and charged on all products and services.
Clearly to charge a fixed amount on each product was grossly unfair, so we opted to not charge at all. We would indeed recommend you paid by card as this will protect your transaction with us.
There are many charter airlines that fly into Dalaman, our local airport. The transfer time to base is approximately 90 minutes. You can also fly into Bodrum, the transfer is approximately 2.5 hours
It is possible to fly into Rhodes and get the daily ferry to Marmaris. We can arrange for you to be collected from the ferry terminal.
Clients often arrive via Istanbul. The flight from the UK is three hours followed by an internal flight of 50 minutes to Dalaman. If you’ve never been to Istanbul a short stopover of even 24 hours will reveal the highlights of this wonderful vibrant city. Ask us for hotel information.
*Note* There are two international airports in Istanbul, Ataturk and Sabiha Gocen. these are approx 2.5 hours distant from each other by local bus. try to get both flights to the same airport. If stopping over in Istanbul go to Ataturk International Airport.
Sorry, not normally. As we are a charter company and not a tour operator, it would be illegal for us to offer flights as part of a package. It is possible for us to procure flights for you from an ABTA source on request, this would include ABTA protections on the airfares only.
If you require financial protection on you charter beyond your credit card, there are organisations which will provide this specifically for yacht charter.
For yachts on charter in Turkey it is mandatory to have a current transit log onboard. It is a government charge and only once for the duration of the charter. If you have a crew change halfway then it is possible to make a change on the Transit log. Please ask us for specific advice. If the entire crew is changed a new transit log will be required.
All charter yachts require a security deposit. This is to cover the cost of the “excess” or “deductable”, and is available in two forms.
- Conventional Security Deposit of £2000 or 2200 Euros. This is refundable at the end of charter providing there is no loss of or damage to the yacht or her equipment.
- Damage Waiver – As an alternative to the refundable deposit is Damage Waiver. Charged at £25 per day of charter is non refundable and gives you no damage liability except for those items excluded in the security deposit. These include damage to drop down transoms where in contact with a quay. Loss of or damage to dinghy and outboard.
FAQ - ARRIVALS AND BRIEFINGS
Normally this will depend on your flight time.
It doesn’t matter when you arrive, day or night, we will be at the base to meet you in person. After your long journey, we’ll carry your bags and get you comfortably settled in. If you arrive in the day or evening there is a restaurant/bar on site and all the facilities are freely available for our clients use including swimming pool etc.
Many clients arrive a day early and relax in the hotel before embarking on the yacht the following day. You can have an unhurried time doing some last minute provisioning or a more relaxed area briefing. This will also allow you to more easily enjoy 7 full nights away from base.
Generally guests find the savings on premium Saturday flights is greater than a night in the hotel, More for less and breakfast is included!
No problem. We meet all guests on arrival 24/7. We help with your bags and ensure you are comfortable with evertything you need. We will meet you again in the morning at your convenience.
Your yacht has been meticulously prepared both visually and mechanically, and you will find her defect free. This takes time especially if on charter the previous day. We will get you onboard as soon as we can, but can not guarantee embarkation before 17:00. We do offer a VIP service at extra cost where your yacht will be ready by 13:00
Getting onboard
Boarding time is 17:00 and disembarcation is 09:00 on the final day of charter. You will normally need to be back at base by 17:00 the night before unless we have agreed a different arrangement.
The hotel facilities are available to you throughout your stay with us. You can order food and drink, or just laze around the pool or private beach, you are on holiday of course.
There is a starter pack of items like toilet rolls, cleaning cloths, lighter etc. and 1lt bottle of drinking water. if you want any provisions onboard when you arrive, just download our provisioning list (here) and it will all be packed onboard for you. There is no charge for this service. payment for provisions can be done the morning following your arrival if it late (or early!).
If you arrive out of hours, we will show you the essentials when you arrive, e.g. cooker and toilet.
We offer all our clients two separate briefings:
- General Briefing: To familiarise your party with the specific features of the chartered yacht. We will go into as much details as you require to ensure you can safely operate all the equipment.
- Area Briefing: We will ask you what you want to experience from your holiday and make recommendations about possible routes and places to visit which we believe you will enjoy. These recommendations are our own opinions, and not ‘sponsored’ buy local organisations.
Once the briefings are complete and we formally hand over the yacht to you, you are then free to leave and are now responsible for the yacht until it’s return to its berth at the end of the holiday.
Of course, we take your safety very seriously. UK legislation for a commercial UK flagged yacht requires one lifejacket per berth plus two, so a 6 berth carries have 8 lifejackets. There is also one lifeline per berth. Note: We only use auto-inflating lifejackets with harness connections on our yachts, not the ‘Kapok’ type of buoyancy aid.carries
For some items we ask for payment at base in GBP, Euros or Turkish Lira. Typically this for items like transfers, end cleaning etc. This is because these are subcontracted services paid locally, which we pay on your behalf. For your convenience we accept payment by GBP, Euros, Dollars or Turkish Lira.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to take credit card payments at base for these items.
Children’s lifejackets are available from base in a choice of sizes. please advise us of the requirement before arriving and they will be onboard waiting for you. There is no charge for this.
