Sail Sardinia

In the middle of the Mediterranean sits Sardinia. What a jewel this large island is. Friendly locals, great ice cream and picturesque villages and bays.

From the Maddalena National Park, scuba and snorkelings a real treat here, round to Stintino with it’s crystal clear waters over white sand, or further down to Cagliari where you’ll find the lagoon covered with flamingos, Sardinia is unforgettable for a sailing holiday.

The prevailing wind is the Maestrale which blows from the North West, but hot winds blow in from the South known as the Scirocco. Summer runs from May to October with temperatures reaching 38c in July and August.

It’s Italian, but the locals don’t consider themselves Italian, they are Sardinians, some say Sardines.

Cagliari the capital is located in the South, Alghero to the NW and Olbia to the NE. Setting off from Alghero don’t miss the Fornelli Passage navigate with care and head round to visit the delightful village of Stintino and the marina at Isola Rossa.
